Summer Programs

During the summer, CEDEI offers the following academic programs for international students:

Race and Ethnicity in the Andes
Race and Ethnicity in the Andes, co-sponsored by the University of Lethbridge, combines anthropological analysis with ethnographic writing and Spanish language training, and centers on the themes of race and ethnicity in the northern Andean region. Students will spend four weeks in different regions of Ecuador learning about how these concepts have shaped the social, political, and economic landscape of the Andes from colonial times to the present.
Summer Spanish Program in the Andes
The Summer Spanish Program in the Andes, co-sponsored by Augustana College, is designed to provide serious college students, teachers of Spanish and other interested adults with an opportunity to study the language and experience the culture of Latin America. The program includes formal classroom instruction, the opportunity to live with and learn from an Ecuadorian family, and visits to sites of cultural, geographical and historical interest in Ecuador and Peru.
Summer TEFL Program
Earn your TEFL Certificate, then travel the world teaching English. Our TEFL Certificate courses are different from most. Learning how to teach English and learning how to teach it in a foreign culture are two very different things. Our approach takes into consideration the cultural context within which you learn to teach. Learn about Ecuador's history and culture, live with a host local family and practice teach at an on-site language school.
